Our Story

The Grind Coffee began with a mobile coffee cart and a growing curiosity about what made a really good cup of coffee.
After a few years on the cart, I fell in love with the idea of roasting my own beans — not just serving coffee, but creating it from the very start. I bought a small coffee roaster and began learning the craft the old-fashioned way: through trial and error, long roasting sessions, and honest feedback from customers.
Slowly, a blend emerged that people kept coming back for. That blend went on to become our award-winning coffee.
As demand grew, the little roaster that started it all could no longer keep up. It was time to step things up, and a larger roaster was commissioned so we could continue roasting in small batches without compromising on quality.
Today, The Grind Coffee is roasted in the back garden of the Tasman General Store — a small, local roastery focused on carefully roasted beans, consistency, and great flavour in every cup.

Small batch. Locally roasted. Made with care.
